New and Noteworthy Reefer: August 25, 2021

Pre-rolls now come in so many formats. Unfortunately, the supply of pre-rolled reefers at a price range everyone loves is getting a bit slim. You’ve probably noticed that your favourite dispensaries don’t have too many Redecan Reddees on hand. There are a few Shred J’s (including their latest new arrival, Funk Master J’s). Even the Namasté 3-packs are few and far between!

Plus, when we take into consideration the cost of whole flower eighths… let’s just say that it makes a lot of sense to roll your own. But if you’re like me, and you like your reefers slim and straight, trust me when I say: rolling machines make all the difference.

I can roll. Don’t get me wrong. But it’s nice to just sit for a bit, roll out my doobies for the week and have them ready to go. Plus, then I can pick what I want to roll up. Including a bit of CBD flower to help round out my session. If you’re really skilled at rolling, why not try your hand at a few more exotic shapes?

A Few Fave Reefer Products

Fun fact about today’s products? All the featured reefer show their total terpene content right on the package! I love that this is becoming the norm – and don’t hesistate to ask us if you have any terpene questions!

Uppercut Punch by Alberta Bud

Uppercut Punch by Alberta Bud; Indica dominant and 1.5% total terpene content

Since I’ve opened the container, I’ve been smelling it pretty much non-stop. It’s one of those aromas that’s oh-so-comforting and relaxing, even before we bust it up. The terpene profile leads out with sweet limonene, fruity farnesene and delicate ocimene. If cannabis had a candle scent, I’d be signing up Uppercut Punch for the aroma profile.

The buds are dense, squishy and super frosty. The reefer is packed in a Calyx container and comes with a Boveda pack. It’s a light green color with pretty amber tinted pistils.

I found the flavour to be very spicy, which is kind of surprising given the terps listed. I felt chatty, in a positive way. It was also pretty easy to stay away from the kitchen. My body was relaxed, but without much heaviness in the eyes. In a vaporizer, you really need to focus on the flavour to get it – it’s very mild.

For William, who had approximately 60mg over 2 bowls in my Sutra Mini, burned twice (once at 390°F and the second at 399°F). The effects were a nice mishmash of effects one would find in indica, and is particularly relaxing. Bit of sensorial, bit of relaxation, bit of mental distraction. Probably a bit of mood elevation. Overall a nice relaxing strain. But maybe not a night cap. More relaxing than fatiguing imo.

Uppercut Punch is a strong indica, testing at 24% THC and 1.5% terpenes. This relaxing bud has a limonene dominant terpene profile that smells and tastes like fresh baked lemon biscuits

Strawberry Cake by Vertical

One of our favourite evening products when we first received cannabis more than two years ago (already?!) was Vertical’s Kent County Kush. A mainstay product of ours is their Cold Creek Kush (which as sold out at the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission at time of writing).

But we have a soft spot for “strawberry” reefer.

When I read up on Strawberry Cake, I discovered that its profile is significantly cheesier than I thought. It makes sense when we take a look at the lineage:

Strawberry Cake Reefer: Chronic x White Widow x Cheese

Lastly, terpenes are shown on the package: the total terpene concentration for the Strawberry Cake is 2.459%, with spicy Terpinolene, dank Myrcene and Ocimene leading out, with citrusy Limonene rounding out the flavour profile.

Crossing a really stinky cheese with a fruity and potent Chronic, Strawberry Cake is a smoker’s delight. There’s the classic Cheese taste and aroma, coupled with an underlying mouth-watering sweetness. The hit is hard and heavy, just perfect for the serious smoker.

Lilac Diesel by Violet Tourist

Subtle floral aroma and an undeniable gassy smell: Lilac Diesel definitely lives up to its name! The buds are dense and somewhat springy – pretty good considering it was packed without a humidity pack. It’s ready to roll, and promises lovely daytime effects that will put a smile on your face… but not all that much spring in your step. Think relaxed day at the beach, as opposed to hiking in the woods.

Did you know? Violet Tourist Super Flower is Violet Tourist’s way of telling reefer fans that their buds are hang dried, hand trimmed, small batch, and craft grown. Did we mention they’re in Alberta?
